Optimizing the airspace

The complexity of designing airspace and flight paths is increasing. Aircraft must fly effectively from economic, capacity, security and environmental perspectives. A great deal of the work to create airspace and flight routes concerns cooperation across borders between different actors.

LFV has vast experience of designing flight procedures and the airspace around airports. Our knowledge of statutory regulations allows us to ensure that all requirements and regulations are met in an effective manner. We offer the following services:

Environmental analysis

Today, more and more of the work is concentrated to developing airspace and flight paths to attain set environmental objectives. This applies to services such as flight procedures, designing airspace, designing flight paths and navigation network. Environmental objectives drive development and affect all disciplines. We assist in the airports’ environmental assessment work, where our expertise is a crucial factor when the flight paths are designed to minimise negative environmental impact in terms of both noise and emissions.

Flight procedures

Flight procedures are required to fly to and from airports. The procedures can be based on conventional navigation instruments or on more advanced navigation technology, for example, satellite based navigation. The procedures can also be divided up in two parts, one part related to the actual take-off and landing phases and another part that concerns the flight paths in the terminal area (TMA) to get to and from the higher-lying “air corridors”.

Designing airspace and flight paths

LFV has long experience of designing flight paths and the airspace around airports. LFV also has access to a very large network both nationally and internationally. Our knowledge of statutory regulations allows us to ensure that all requirements and regulations are met in an effective manner.
