To fly drones in airspace
If you fly a drone, you must follow the rules that apply to flight - see the website of the drone regulations authority, the Swedish Transport Agency.
Flying near airports
The operation of drones in airspace near an airport requires special permission from air traffic control, or equivalent, on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, a two-way radio link or equivalent may be required to obtain such permission. To contact local air traffic control, email email@example.com, for a reply with instructions.
Airports where LFV provides air traffic control: Arlanda, Bromma, Hagshult, Halmstad, Jokkmokk, Karlsborg, Kiruna, Landvetter, Linköping-Malmen, Luleå, Ronneby, Sturup, Såtenäs, Umeå, Uppsala, Vidsel, Visby, Åre-Östersund.
Restricted areas where flying is prohibited
There are also restricted areas in Sweden where drone use is prohibited, such as over prisons, nuclear power plants and national parks. Whether you can fly in a restricted area, R area, and who grants permission to fly there depends on the area in question. Some R areas are always active, which means that it’s always a no fly zone. In other areas, it depends on whether any activity may be disturbed.
