Trainee Air Traffic Controllers

Curious about being an air traffic controller? It's an exciting and varied job, where you're at the heart of the action. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure that air traffic flows smoothly in Swedish airspace and guide pilots from all corners of the world in a safe, orderly and efficient manner.

Ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic

Air traffic control is a stimulating profession with plenty of responsibility and a focus on ensuring airspace safety. Together, we ensure that people travel from A to B safely and efficiently, with the least possible impact on the environment.

Aviation safety above all

The primary task of an air traffic controller is to ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic. Air traffic controllers are experts at "separating" traffic, i.e., separating the routes of aircraft so that they do not collide.

Flight safety is the foundation of all air traffic management. An air traffic controller has good multitasking skills and constantly cooperates with pilots, ground staff and other air traffic controllers. As an air traffic controller, you are constantly making decisions in a dynamic environment.

Take-off, landing and traffic at different altitudes

An air traffic controller works with civil and military traffic. There are three different types of air traffic control services. Air traffic controllers are responsible for aircraft taking off and landing and for the airspace nearest to the airport. Terminal control uses radar to direct traffic within 30 to 50 nautical miles of the airport, while area control directs traffic at high altitude.
