The government gives LFV increased responsibility for unmanned aviation and extends the Director-General's appointment

On 1 February, LFVs assignment will be updated to include information and services that support unmanned aviation. LFVs Director-General Ann Persson Grivas appointment will be extended for a further three years from 1 April to 31 March 2026.

LFV tasked with proposing a new lower airspace in Sweden

2021-09-13. Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider LFV has been commissioned by the Swedish Government to propose how the airspace below 2900 meters should be designed to create better conditions for more environmentally friendly flights to Swedish airports.

LFV commissions new remote air-traffic control centre

2021-06-01. Today LFV commissioned the new remote tower centre, RTC Stockholm, for remote air-traffic control at some of Swedavia’s airports. The first airport to be connected to the centre was Kiruna Airport.

Improved air traffic control over the southern Baltic Sea with new radar

2021-03-29. LFV has commissioned a new primary radar in southern Sweden. With this, LFV's air traffic controllers who manage traffic over the southern Baltic Sea receive important flight safety-enhancing information about flights without transponders.

Major reduction in air traffic in 2020 due to the pandemic

2021-03-09. The air traffic in Swedish airspace decreased by 57 percent in 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic. The number of flights last year was 332,000, compared with 774,000 in 2019.

LFV and Vattenfall in collaboration on the fossil-free airport

2021-02-24. LFV and Vattenfall are now initiating a research collaboration that involves further steps towards a fossil-free transport sector. The starting point will be the new research arena LARC (LFV Aviation Research Center) at the airport in Örnsköldsvik, where solutions for fossil-free airports will be developed and be able to function as a template for other airports.
