New roundabout at Malmö Airport

2009-07-01

The T intersection between routes 813 and 816 carrying traffic to and from Lund and the E65 to Malmö Airport, will soon be converted into a roundabout. Today there are occasional problems at the intersection during rush hours. A new road from the intersection will be built for heavy vehicle traffic to the airport’s cargo area as well as traffic to Sturup Raceway.

Construction during autumn 2009
The new roundabout will be 30 metres wide with four exits. Construction of the roundabout is expected to begin during Week 32 (August 3-9) and will be completed by late November. The conversion is a joint project of the Swedish Road Administration, the Municipality of Svedala, the nearby Sturup Park business centre and LFV − the State enterprise that operates Sweden’s major airports.

Traffic disruptions expected
Traffic will flow through the work area, and the speed limit will be lowered to 50 and 30 kilometres per hour, respectively. Travellers will have to allow a longer time to reach the airport.
