Göteborg Landvetter linking City Airline’s domestic network to Europe

2010-02-02

With the new concept Göteborg Transfer, it will now be possible to change planes at Göteborg Landvetter quickly, comfortably  and conveniently and continue on to elsewhere in Europe. With non-stop routes to some 40 destinations, the airport and City Airline are connecting about a dozen Scandinavian regions with the rest of Europe.

“We are investing a total of SEK 75 million over a two-year period,” says Olle Sundin, Airport Director at Göteborg Landvetter. “Our new concept, Göteborg (Gothenburg) Transfer,  makes it easy to change from a domestic to an international destination. The investment will also create conditions for offering more non-stop destinations from our airport.”

Lennart Olausson, CEO of Business Region Göteborg, feels very positive about the airport and City Airline’s investment:

“Göteborg Landvetter Airport plays a key role for growth and employment in the Göteborg region. The airport is also important given that roughly one out of four employees in private industry in the region works in a foreign-owned company. Many of these companies are involved in international trade in many different markets. Efficient transport and communication are therefore vital to our region,” Olausson says.

Research has shown that greater access by air in and to Sweden creates new opportunities for the tourism and hospitality industry.

”In order for Göteborg to develop over the long term as a city for tourism, conferences and events, access is a critical issue. This is a unique investment that makes the Göteborg region even more attractive as a destination,” says Leif Nilsson, CEO of Göteborg & Co.

“We have one of the best partnerships in Europe today between the airport, municipal authority, region and business representatives. The investment by Göteborg Landvetter Airport and City Airline is an important piece of the puzzle in continuing the successful collaboration to strengthen the region’s competitiveness,” says Airport Director Olle Sundin.
